100% green electricity in all Hero manufacturing sites
In 2024, we continued our commitment to sustainability and emission reduction by closing the final gaps in our procurement of certified green electricity in our manufacturing. Fossil fuel energy has been the primary driver of our Scope 2 manufacturing CO2e footprint, but our transition to renewable sources has made a substantial impact.
Our procurement team achieved a remarkable 94% reduction in Scope 2 emissions from electricity in 2024 compared to 2023. This significant decrease was made possible by purchasing renewable electricity certifications in the US, Hero MEA, and Hero Türkiye, complementing the already-green operations at our sites in Spain, Germany, and Brazil.
In addition to procuring green electricity, our sites are actively investing in renewable energy systems. Hero Spain inaugurated its new energy-efficient production site in early 2025, featuring a roof fully covered with photovoltaic systems. Meanwhile, our manufacturing site in Germany installed solar thermal systems to support hot water preparation in our production processes.
